Independent city established in 14th century by king Kazimierz The Great, became finnaly a jewish center of cultural and religious life – blooming in 16th century. Before II WW 25% of Krakow’s population were Jews. Untill today we have 7 synagogues - one active, 2 graveyards, wonderful examples of architecture and Jewish Culture Festival every year.
Next to the jewish section there was christian city with Main Market Square, parish church, town hall – all like in Kraków Old Town. You will find a miraculous pond with a healing water in a neighbourhood of Church on The Rock and extraordinary gothic church of St. Cathrine.
